History of the site
Old stand of maritime pine in a wet/heath land covered with molinia at 80%. The land belongs to the General Council of Gironde. This site was chosen because of its only slight slope and easy access. The arboretum is located right next to the INRA Experimental Unit which is in charge of this program, and is therefore very convenient for all cultural purposes, measurements and fine observation. It also enables regular organization and frequent visits from professional groups, students and forest owners. The plot was fenced off to avoid damages caused by wild animals.Publications related to the site
