History of the site
The site is installed on an old grassland which is bisected by a ditch and where individual protections have been installed to avoid damages caused by wild animals. The arboretum is situated on the “domain of Ognoas”, which is owned by the General Council of the Landes. This forest and agriculture area mainly produces Armagnac (wine grape) and it also hosts other forestry devices for research and development. This site was chosen because it has little slope and easy access.
